Indications:

Dosage & Administration:

• Target Species: Dogs and Cats.
• Route: Auricular use (in the ear canal) only.
• Preparation:
  • Before application, it is crucial to clean the ear canal thoroughly to remove any scabs, crusts, and waxy discharge. This can be done using a cotton swab moistened with a dedicated ear cleanser (like Virbac Epi-Otic) or even with the OmniGuard drops themselves.
  • Any excess hair around the opening of the ear canal may be trimmed to facilitate application.
• Dosage (General Guidelines – Always confirm with the product label):
  • Cats and Small Dogs: 3-5 drops per affected ear.
  • Medium Dogs: 4 drops per affected ear.
  • Large Dogs: 5 drops per affected ear.
• Application: After cleaning, instill the recommended number of drops into the ear canal. Gently massage the base of the ear for a few seconds to help distribute the medication. Allow the pet to shake its head to help dislodge any loosened debris.
• Frequency: Typically applied once daily for a treatment period of 7 to 10 days, or up to 21 days for ear mites to cover their full life cycle and ensure eradication. Some sources suggest applying every 15 days for prevention/maintenance. Always follow your veterinarian’s specific instructions for the duration of treatment.

• Hypersensitivity: Do not use on animals with known increased individual sensitivity to Diazinon, Prednisolone, or any other components of the drug.
• Side Effects: While generally safe when used as directed, potential side effects can include:
  • Local irritation, redness, or discomfort at the application site.
  • Rarely, systemic effects from corticosteroids if used excessively or on a ruptured eardrum.
  • Neurological signs if absorbed systemically, especially with organophosphates like Diazinon (though topical application to the ear minimizes this risk).
  • Discontinue use and consult a veterinarian if any adverse reactions occur.
